Trauma & PTSD Treatment

Relevance of Trauma in Mental Health and Substance Addiction

High stress experiences and trauma in early life and adulthood produce lasting changes to one’s psychological development and mechanisms for coping. Adaptations to Traumatic experiences often lead to painful and persistent relationships patterns, mental health problems, and physical health decline. High stress experiences are traumatic on the human condition and engrain survival-based methods of thinking and behaving. The Revolution in Counseling approaches mental health recovery by identifying the core and origination of trauma in one’s life development. We are here to help you to see and evaluate your story in the light of life’s most difficult and altering experiences.
Common Types of Trauma

  • Abandonment
  • Sexual Abuse & Sexual Exploitation
  • Emotional & Psychological Abuse
  • Physical Abuse and Assault
  • Complex Trauma (Variety of Traumatic Experiences over the lifespan)
  • Military Combat
  • Intimate Partner Violence
  • Relationship Betrayal Trauma
  • Substance Addiction in the Family
  • Neglect
  • Adoption
  • Bullying
  • Early Childhood Trauma
  • Traumatic Grief
  • Bullying & Abuse by Peer Groups
  • Community Violence
  • Sex Addiction & Sexual Betrayal by a Loved One

Trauma freezes parts of the “self” in the past and these parts are often unresolved, stress oriented, and repressed. Research has informed us over the years of how these early childhood traumas correlate with and contribute to substance use disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, and a variety of other mental health problems. Our mission at The Revolution in Counseling is to direct our work at the root of such issues by creating an alliance strong enough to face these historical adversities. We believe that treating trauma related experiences and breaches of attachment at their origins provides healing and lasting change to debilitating symptoms. Please contact us to see if our approach to your situation could be a good fit toward your recovery.
