Trauma-Informed Massage Therapy encompasses all varieties of traditional massage. My training in Trauma Touch Therapy has given me the experience of doing bodywork with people who have a history of trauma and holding space for traumatic reactions during a session. My work is consent based and during the intake we will discuss any accommodations needed to make sure you feel safe and comfortable throughout your session.
I am trained in Swedish massage, deep tissue, myofascial work, trigger point therapy, injury work, stretching, and sports massage, and I specialize in massages geared towards relaxation, reduction of somatic dissociation, and overall mental wellness.
There are many studies that show the impact massage has on mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, insomnia, and many others. Studies show that massage not only releases tension and fight/flight/freeze holding patterns in the body, but it also increases circulation which helps with concentration, increases the level of dopamine and serotonin which may help alleviate the symptoms of anxiety and depression, and reduces cortisol levels which are associated with stress and insomnia. The therapeutic value of touch has been widely researched and many mental health organizations are now recommending regular massage as a part of a holistic treatment approach. I would be honored to customize a bodywork session to your unique needs.
